Started Djing back in 1991 when a friend of mine introduced me to his vinyl decks and have never looked since! I enjoy the sound of a 4x4 beat with sundrenched vocals and a grooving bassline so you could say funky house music is my passion. Been mixing for over 15 yeears and in this time I’ve played in many venues across the UK. My biggest experience to date was playing to packed crowds of over 1000 people at the then super clubs of Birmingham including the Institute & Sundissential. I've also been very privileged to play alongside some big name DJ’s including Tall Paul, Jeremy Healy, Andy Farley and the late Tony de Vit (RIP).
I always embrace new technology and have now taken the transition from vinyl to cd. A decision which was not taken lightly, but due to the greater selection of music releases proves to be an excellent move. Especially as this has now enabled me to recover many of my lost gems.
I recently started a podcast at www.djzimmo.podomatic.com to enable my mix releases to reach a much wider audience. Since doing this, I now get over 1000 downloads a week and regularly make the top 50 in the movers and shakers list.
