We launched in March 2009 as a fitness and training radio station, called CREATE RADIO. At the beginning we had 6 DJ’s that each had a two hour slot. The rest of the day we played upbeat music and had interviews with people from the fitness, beauty and life coaching industry. We decided to expand and get a few more DJ’s... Well, we went a little bit overboard. We ended up with 30 new DJ’s. We then started the concept of having DJ’s playing from Friday evenings 6pm straight through until Monday mornings 9am, NON STOP! The Facebook Fan club was launched and we had our first interaction with our fans. The results were GREAT! We gained over 500 fans in the first two weeks! People loved what we were doing and we were on the roll. We also started mini shows from 8pm until 1am every weekday evening.

After a lot of requests from our fans, we decided to go live and organise an event. However, we had one problem. We forgot that we were meant to be fitness and training radio station and that having events would not fit in with that concept at all. There was only one thing to do... Create a new Brand that will reflect what we became. We wanted to create something that include all ages, sexes, races and everyone that share the passion for House Music.

So where did the name come from? Well, we were now all about Pure Music and Pure DJ’s and their mixes. The name plays a very big part, so we went for a walk around the block, THREE times to clear our heads, and by end of the walk we decide to rebrand ourselves as PURE.

Today we have PURE DJ’S, PURE RADIO, PURE PARTIES and a GREAT team of people that help us. So who is the master minds behind PURE? Well it’s Michael and Dee. Michael has a history of radio experience for many years. He is also the owner of Create Radio. Dee was the first official DJ of Create Radio and later on became more involved in the station. Today, they are the Directors of PURE. Michael deals with all the technical side of things and the daily running of the station. Dee is the Creative Director. He is also in charge of DJ recruitment and Slot times. They work great together and they are a PURE match in heaven!
